About Us
The Flying Studio and Strictly Pole Dancing websites are resources that are frequently used by many members of the pole dance community, media and public, who are seeking information on pole dancing, pole dance history, photographs, videos and choreography. Please Contact Us if you would like to request useage of any material, to cite us in reference or if you require any further information.

The Flying Studio is a centre dedicated to the teaching of and the performance of the art of pole dancing and other aerial arts such as trapeze, corde lisse and tissu for health, fitness, fun and personal development.

Dance Based Classes
Covering all aspects of pole dance, these safe and fun pole dance lessons are taught to a high standard in uncrowded classes at levels 1-10 in the following formats: standard course format, taster sessions, private lessons (individual, group).

Pole dancing tones the body and strips fat. It is a great cardiovascular workout and allows you to use your body in sensual ways that make you feel 'all womanly' as a friend of The Flying Studio says. Pole dancing builds strength and lean muscle, improves posture and overall self confidence.

Pole dancing is taught in a purpose built studio environment and not in a bar or club.

At The Flying Studio, we also provide high trick standard artistic pole dancing for public performance. Pole dancing is not confused with erotic arts such as lap dancing or striptease.

In addition, The Pole Dance Discussion Forums are a place to discuss pole dance and its developments.

Foundation of the School
The original school was founded in 2002. The Flying Studio teaches pole dancing to women of all ages and abilities in purpose built, safe, modern and spacious studio environments in Leicester, Derby and Lichfield in the Midlands. The Flying Studio shares the common goal of many pole dance teachers and is very active in wanting to bring pole dancing into the mainstream and become accepted as a valid art form and sport. We are constantly working to bring togerther the pole dance community and other relevant organisations to reach this goal. Current projects include working with Equity (for performance purposes) and being part of the community that is lobbying the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in order to get pole dancing recognised as a test sport for the 2012 Olympics in London. There are a number of firsts that have been acheived by both Genevieve and The Flying Studio. The school developed it's own unique teaching syllabus founded on Genevieve Moody's pole dance technique. Our school also pioneered the use of flat dance shoes for pole dance, despite derision and the wearing of flat shoes is now adopted by most pole dance schools today. We also have a number of trademark moves, both in solo and doubles pole. Genevieve and Susie performed during the first ever doubles competition section in 2007 and came first; also winning best pole trick for their innovative efforts.

Note: Only pole dancing is taught, performed and provided for at lessons and performance events. The Flying Studio is not an agency and does not provide dancers for the erotic industry. No nudity is allowed.

You will NEVER look at street furniture in the same way again!
